One of the most extraordinary model railroad layouts: Model Trains in a Painting on the Wall

This is a real work of art in the field of rail transport modeling: At first glance, it looks like a painting hanging on the wall. The painting has a golden picture frame and lighting on the upper edge. At second glance, you discover a miniature railroad. I guess, you have rarely seen anything so extraordinary: There is a model train layout in the painting depicting a small village by the river. This magnificent model railway layout was constructed by Henk van Rhenen, a model maker of dioramas who lives in the Nederlands. Henk van Rhenen normally builds small dioramas without model trains. But for the model railroading competition at the exhibition “Modelspoor Expo 2024” in Belgium, he has created this miniature train diorama that looks like a masterpiece. He calls his artwork “Gezicht op een dorp aan de rivier” in Dutch language, which means “View of a village on the river”. He constructed a small village from the last century in which a steam streetcar runs. Yes, unfortunately the steam streetcar runs too fast! There are cows by the river and several small boats pass under the bridge. Everything in that miniature world is self-made: The trees, the buildings and especially the painted sky on the background wall. Henk van Rhenen used model making accessories by manufacturer Redutex and Artitec. The size of the diorama is approximately 95 cm wide, 38 cm deep and 55 cm high.
