Psalm 113 - He Stoops Down

Psalm 113 holds together two truths that seem like they shouldn't fit together but somehow do perfectly. God is exalted. High above every nation. High above the heavens themselves. There is no one like Him — enthroned in glory, ruling over all creation. And yet this same infinitely high God humbles Himself to look down at the world below. He stoops. He notices. He reaches. He raises the poor out of the dust. He lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them with princes, people who were overlooked, forgotten, counted out, now given a place of honor. He gives the barren woman a home and fills it with joy. The God who is too high for us to comprehend is somehow never too far to reach down and pick us up.
