HPV 2025: The Season

August 2024: nobody wanted to host the HPV World Championships. No bids from Germany, the Netherlands or France. So a small Italian team decided to build one from scratch, on the shores of Lake Maggiore. 11–13 July 2025, Meina · Arona · Gattico-Veruno (Italy): about 93 riders from 9 nations, three towns closing their roads, an army of volunteers, and four races to crown the best human-powered racers on the planet. 🏁 Race 1: 100 m flying sprint on the Arona lakefront: Jonathan Schmidt, 73.56 km/h 🏁 Race 2: 2-hour race on a closed circuit in Gattico-Veruno: Christoph Rindlisbacher, 98.7 km on a part-faired bike, ahead of all the velomobiles 🏁 Race 3: 400 m standing start on the Meina track: Julien Francallet 🏁 Race 4: Meina–Ghevio hill climb: Rindlisbacher again 🏆 Overall world champion 2025: Christoph Rindlisbacher (SUI), ahead of Julian Kraft (GER, velomobile world champion) and Simon Löw (GER) 🚗 And for the first time ever at a World Championship: four-wheeled pedal cars. Plus the rest of an incredible season: the 24-hour record war (Australia vs Europe), Battle Mountain, where François Pervis came within 1.52 mph of the world record, the Policumbent hour record, and much more.
