Can Ohio State BEAT USC With a Backup QB? Urban Meyer Weighs In

Ohio State football without Julian Sayin: Urban Meyer breaks down how the Buckeyes beat USC — why Luke Fahey at quarterback means a spread-option plan, early touches for Jeremiah Smith, and no throws over the middle of the field.Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone go inside the Woody Hayes Center on the Monday of USC week: what the bye bought Ryan Day, how many plays Urban would script for a true freshman quarterback (his answer: 15), and why Ohio State wins this game only if it takes care of the football. Then the USC side. Lincoln Riley is now 5-14 against ranked opponents and 0-5 versus top 10 teams at USC, after a 24-7 loss to Wisconsin with minus-17 rushing yards. In those top 10 games the Trojans have allowed over 42 points, over 200 rushing yards and over 300 passing yards a game. Urban calls it appalling. Mark calls it a must win — a de facto playoff game, with Ohio State, Indiana and UCLA still on the schedule.Plus Utah football: the No. 6 Utes and their one first-place vote travel to Cincinnati on Halloween. Urban and Mark both take Utah in a close one, and both point to the same reason — Dampier, coming off 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
