Attraction, Part 2: Who Promised That Future? | Did God Say That?

"This could be good." "This will be good." "God said it would be." Three sentences that sound almost the same, and they are three different claims. You felt the pull. You pictured where it leads. Somewhere along the way, what you hoped it would give you turned into what you believe God promised you. When did that happen? In Part 2 of Attraction, from the Did God Say That? series, we look at where a pull gets its power: what we experience, what we bring to it, and what we expect from it. We watch how an expectation starts speaking for God, how a feeling becomes a meaning, then a name, then an authority. We see it in Genesis 3, where an appeal arrives attached to a promise, and in Jeremiah 23:16, where a conclusion that starts in the heart gets presented as God's word. Being drawn is not a sin, and we don't treat every pull as suspect. But the pull can't testify for itself. So we end with a practice you can use this week: name what you feel, what you hope, and what you mean, before you announce what God said.
