Speculating Wildly About Crime: SWAC Gets SERIAL- Willie Pickton- Part 1 of 2

Jamie and Kristy introduce a new “SWAC Gets Serial” episode of Speculating Wildly About Crime (with a brief entertainment-only disclaimer and a Patreon shout-out to Cheryl) and begin Part 1 of their coverage of Canadian serial killer Robert William Pickton. Kristy discusses insights from the book On the Farm by Stevie Cameron and explains how women—many sex workers and drug-addicted—vanished from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside while warnings about Pickton and his farm went unaddressed, highlighting RCMP failures and victim stigma. The episode covers Pickton’s upbringing on a filthy Port Coquitlam pig farm, family dynamics, and an incident where a hit-and-run victim drowned after being dragged into a ditch. They describe the brothers’ later “Piggy’s Palace Good Time Society” parties and Pickton’s method of luring vulnerable women to the farm, ending with the 1997 assault of Sandra Gail Ringwald and how charges were dropped after threats. Kristy previews that Part 2 will cover the investigation, arrests, and trial. Sources: Prime Video: The Pig Farm On the Farm Audiobook by Stevie Cameron https://kardiacmusic.com/robert-willi...
