she's not coming back (playlist)

some memories don't hurt because they were bad. they hurt because you know they'll never happen again. you remember the ordinary moments more than anything else. the way she looked at you. the streets you walked together. the conversations that meant nothing at the time, but somehow mean everything now. for a while, you tell yourself that maybe things will change. maybe enough time will pass. maybe one day you'll hear from her again. but eventually, there is something you have to admit. she's not coming back. not every goodbye happens all at once. sometimes someone leaves your life long before your heart understands that they're gone. and maybe moving on isn't about forgetting her. maybe it's learning to carry the memory without waiting for it to become real again. some nights, you'll still think about her. you'll still wonder what life would have looked like if things had been different. that's okay. tonight, you don't have to figure it all out. just let the memories pass, let the music play, and stay here for a while.
