25 Forgotten Cistern Tricks That Kept Families Supplied Through Year-Long Droughts

Before pressure tanks and electric pumps, American homes still had water in every room. Not hauled by the bucket either. Whole houses ran on systems that used gravity, rainfall, stored reserves and a lot of hard-earned understanding of how water actually moves. This video breaks down those systems piece by piece. How each one worked, what it supplied, what it cost to build, and why so many of them still function today when everything electric quits. Some carried families through droughts that lasted a full year. Some cost almost nothing next to the tanks and filters sold for the same job now. If you're on a well, off the grid, or just want to know how a home stays supplied without power, subscribe to Lost Water Systems.
