Más de 700 mil habitantes de la provincia de los Ríos se beneficiarán del nuevo sistema de transmisión eléctrica recientemente inaugurado, consistente en una Línea de Transmisión de 42 km y la ampliación de las Subestaciones de Milagro y Babahoyo en Ecuador. Las peculiares características del terreno obligaron a construir 12 km de pilotes y realizar un diseño especial que elevase las estructuras 3 ml sobre el suelo, para evitar que fueran dañadas por las posibles inundaciones. Esto, unido a la extensión de la Línea, supuso un gran esfuerzo de ingeniería y el compromiso de 200 trabajadores, además de una inversión de más de 15 millones de dólares. Estas nuevas instalaciones, diseñadas para poder operar a 230 Kv, duplican la capacidad de transmisión de energía existente y promueven el uso de energía limpia en los procesos productivos de esta zona, potenciando así su productividad, modernizando el sector agrícola y permitiendo afrontar los retos de producción sostenible que requiere el país.
