⁴ᴷ Kagoshima: Kagoshima Chuo Station (鹿児島県: 鹿児島中央駅) - Japan Walking Tour (March, 2026)

I’ve decided to head west in search of warmer weather and travel all the way around Kyushu. After driving to Osaka and taking the ferry to Shin-Moji, I’m continuing my journey through the island. Returning from Satsuma-Sendai, I’ve arrived in the heart of Kagoshima City. Since it was a Friday night, the area around Kagoshima Chuo Station was buzzing with crowds. I chose to start my walk here, at the Shinkansen terminal marked by its iconic Ferris wheel, and headed toward the famous Tenmonkan district. It’s quite a long walk to reach the center, but the changing scenery made it worthwhile. Once inside the Tenmonkan shopping arcade, I noticed a high number of international visitors. At the same time, the streets were filled with weekend revelers and plenty of touts—a classic, chaotic scene of a major entertainment district at night.
