Former DICT Undersecretary and Child Rights Network spokesperson Jeffrey Ian Dy on Wednesday (November 3) voiced strong concerns over proposed legislation imposing a blanket social media ban on minors in the Philippines. He warned that requiring age verification creates an unworkable system of mass surveillance. He also noted that requiring government-issued IDs fails to target foreign groomers and risks infringing on the privacy of ordinary citizens, whistleblowers, and overseas workers. Instead of banning youth or punishing parents, Dy urged the government to treat online grooming as a social problem rather than purely a cybersecurity issue. #JeffreyIanDy #SocialMediaBan #ChildProtection #CyberSafety #DICT #SenateBill2424 #HouseBill11566 #OnlineSafety #MentalHealthPH #DataPrivacy #Surveillance #PhilippinesNews #ANC #DigitalRights #ChildRightsNetwork
