Leviticus 7 commands God’s people not to eat what is unclean and not to eat the fat — because the fat belongs to the Lord. But these laws go far beyond dietary rules. They are a spiritual warning. In 2 Corinthians 11, Paul warns the church against “another Jesus, another spirit, and another gospel” — false apostles who disguise themselves as servants of Christ, just as Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. The unclean meat of Leviticus 7 represents spiritual contamination — false teaching, greed, pride, and rebellion that corrupts the fellowship offering. The prohibition against eating fat is a warning against seeking worldly wealth and living for this world instead of giving God the best. This teaching connects Leviticus 7 to 2 Corinthians 11, showing how Old Testament laws reveal New Testament dangers. The consequence of touching the unclean and eating what is forbidden is being cut off from God’s people. The same consequence applies to those who embrace another gospel. Self-examination is essential — especially before communion.
