The Famous Devil's Throat of Cozumel

WHAT IS UP, DIVERS! Welcome back to the channel! This video is from a Private Boat Dive with Sand Dollar Sports Team, we are diving into one of the absolute HOLY GRAILS of technical recreational diving "The Devil’s Throat" in Punta Sur, right at the very southern tip of Cozumel! If you’ve ever wanted to feel like an underwater astronaut dropping straight into the abyss, this is the spot. What makes this place so legendary (and low-key intimidating) is the conditions, low visibility at first, you can't see the bottom, one you get to 40 to 50 ft you start watching the reef and very fast you have to locate your position because strong currents are pushing you to the north, so no time to waste. There are a few entrance and exits but the famous Devil's Throat is a inside Drop-In: You enter a tiny opening in the reef at around 90 feet. It looks pitch black, but as soon as you turn on your dive light, you’re dropping single-file into an enclosed coral chimney, you navigate this narrow, twisting cave tunnel until... BAM! one of the exits spits you out on a sheer wall face into the deep, crystal-clear blue at 110 to 130 feet! The view looking back at the reef wall is unreal. The Reality Check: This is NOT a beginner dive. Strong currents, zero room for buoyancy errors, narrow overhead environments, and serious depth mean your air and NDL (No-Decompression Limit) burn FAST down here.
