DIY How to fix ugly lawn Today we run a review on the sunjoe scarifier and dethatcher on a lawn that we previously power raked with the greenworks dethatcher. The lawn has seen a dramatic improvement but has a long way to go. Our focus today is to: 1. scarify the lawn. Scarifying removes thatch and allows for better soil to seed contact. I am going to use the SunJoe scarifier to complete this task 2. overseed the lawn. We are using a kentucky bluegrass blend from barenbrug. 3. Use Tenacity herbicide to help limit the amount of weeds and annual grasses such as crabgrass that will be germinating along side the Kentucky Bluegrass that we are throwing down 4. Top dress with peat moss. If your soil is alkaline sphagnum peat moss will work. If you soil is acidic do not use the sphagnum peat.
