Fly Tying - The Knotted Midge North Country Spider

This pattern called the Knotted Midge is found in Jonathan Pickard's List of Wharfedale Flies dating to 1820. Materials Used; Hook: Size 14 Silk: Raven Grey or Ash (Pearsalls No.10) Body: Dubbed with the fur taken from a hare's scut/tail Hackle: A feather taken from between the wing and body of a Peewit/Lapwing. ( A good substitute being a non mottled snipe over-covert)
