Bordeaux - Among the Vines

Four minutes through Bordeaux wine country. No talking. Just the vines and old châteaux´s. In September 2024 I spent a few weeks in the southwest of France. I walked up gravel paths to the châteaux of the Médoc, went down into cool barrel cellars, cycled through the vineyards and heard the bells of Saint-Émilion ring over the rooftops at sunset. Then the city and the coast: the Miroir d'eau in Bordeaux, the Dune du Pilat, the evening light over the Bassin d'Arcachon. What stayed with me was the pace. A good wine takes years. Out there among the vines nobody seemed to be in a hurry, and for a few weeks neither was I.
