Join me on the podcast on today's episode of the ghouls gone will podcast are writer and director Alex Montilla and Actor David Arnold Rubin to talk about the 2026 slasher horror comedy Friday the 69th. Friday the 69th is a microbudget slasher-comedy set in 1981, where struggling adult filmmakers decide to ride the early ’80s horror boom by shooting their own camp-set thriller about spring breakers hunted by a killer beekeeper. Made for under $15,000 and shot entirely on an iPhone, it mixes retro cult-horror vibes, absurd humor, and gory set pieces. Festival buzz praises its DIY charm, niche appeal, and loving parody of bottom-shelf slashers, making it a quirky pick for cult cinema fans. 00:00 podcast introduction 00:29 Friday the 69th overview 01:16 Alex Monita: filmmaker intro 02:10 David Rubin: actor intro 03:13 film title origin story 05:47 cheesy humor & evil dead 07:02 David's reaction to script 07:41 filming with iPhone 09:12 Texas chainsaw massacre house 10:03 filming at the house location 10:31 iconic slasher film discussion 11:50 movie ending discussion 13:19 casting the movie characters 15:03 favorite movie scenes revealed 15:41 favorite movie kills discussed 17:01 grindhouse movie inspiration 17:37 iPhone film production 18:50 vintage film quality 19:30 evil dead 1 vs. evil dead 2 20:20 evil dead trilogy thoughts 21:58 Friday the 69th future 23:32 David's new film project 25:57 top 5 slasher films 26:43 terminator slasher film? 27:33 nightmare on elm street debate 28:10 Friday the 13th part 2 love 29:09 child's play franchise fun 29:51 you're next: slasher comedy 31:12 Jason x & Friday 13th series 32:21 Friday the 13th legacy sequel 32:51 fan films: scream & Friday 33:34 scream movies ranking 34:52 victor Crowley slasher series / Outro For more Click on the links below Friday The 16th Links Website - https://www.fridaythe69th.com/ Official Instagram -   / friday69film   For Past Episodes Click on the Link Below Ghouls Gone Wild Episodes    / @theghoulsgonewildpodcast   The Official Instagram Page   / ghoulsgonewild_podcast   Thank You for Watching! #horror #interview
