Dave Canales addresses defensive coaching changes | Carolina Panthers

Panthers head coach Dave Canales meets with the media to address the decision to part ways with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and secondary coach Jonathan Cooley, taking full responsibility for the move and thanking both coaches for their time with the organization. Canales explains what led to the decision, what he hopes to see from the defense under interim coordinator Todd Wash, and how responsibilities will shift with Ronaldo Hill taking over the secondary and AC Carter moving to the defensive front. He also discusses the urgency he’s asking from the entire building, the challenge of balancing vertical passing concepts with protection issues, and where things stand along the offensive line. #KeepPounding #Panthers Chapters: 0:00 - Addressing the coaching changes 0:21 - The timeline and decision-making process 1:14 - Input from ownership and the front office 2:04 - What he hopes the defense looks like under Todd Wash 2:40 - Explaining the decision on Jonathan Cooley 3:29 - Looking back at the decision to extend Evero 4:25 - Why the timing worked with extra days this week 5:27 - What Todd Wash brings to the role 7:02 - Gauging the locker room’s response 8:04 - Balancing vertical shots with protection concerns 10:07 - Factoring in defensive injuries 11:14 - Will Lee’s status 11:31 - Instilling confidence in the rest of the staff 12:33 - How coaching responsibilities will shift 14:01 - What ultimately drove the decision 15:03 - Offensive line injuries and possible solutions 16:35 - Holding the offense accountable too 18:28 - Using the extra days before Denver 19:02 - How much autonomy Evero had 20:43 - Whether he feels pressure from ownership Subscribe to the Panthers YT Channel: https://bit.ly/35gP3RB For More Panthers NFL Action: https://bit.ly/2nv06FN #CarolinaPanthers #Panthers #NFL #Football For more Panthers action: https://www.panthers.com/ Like us on Facebook:   / carolinapanthers   Follow us on Instagram:   / panthers   Follow us on Twitter:   / panthers
