The FBI's Most Wanted Fraudster Was Hiding in Vietnam

Emylee Thai owned a Houston genetic testing lab. Prosecutors say it billed Medicare about $142 million, often for tests that were not medically necessary, using kickbacks and altered doctors' orders. In December 2022, while awaiting trial, her location monitor was removed. Investigators believe she left the U.S. on a private plane under a false identity. In September 2026, the FBI announced she had been arrested in Vietnam. Emylee Thai has not been convicted and is presumed innocent. All details of the alleged scheme come from the federal indictment and official statements.
