On the sacred fourth day of Navaratri, we offer at the Divine Mother’s feet “Kamalambikayai Kanakamshukayai”, the fourth Avarana kriti from Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar’s celebrated Kamalamba Navavarana Kritis. Set in the majestic Kambhoji raga and Khanda Ata tala, this profound composition offers salutations to Sri Kamalambika, praising Her divine beauty, compassion and supreme power. Dikshitar invokes Her as Kameshvari, the daughter of the Himalayas, the remover of impurities and the bestower of auspiciousness. The kriti corresponds to the fourth Avarana of the Sri Chakra, the Sarva Saubhagyadayaka Chakra, the fourteen-triangled enclosure associated with the bestowal of auspiciousness and good fortune.
