Composed between 1850 and 1854, this three-part oratorio explores themes of exile and refuge in the early life of Jesus. In this trio, three young Ismaelite men encounter the Holy Family as they flee King Herod's decree. The music features lyrical melodies and gentle harmonies, capturing the innocence and warmth of their meeting, along with a sense of wonder and compassion. Matthew Wu and Ching Ching's performance vividly interprets Berlioz's masterful orchestration, allowing the audience to deeply feel the emotional narrative. This trio is not only a highlight of Berlioz's work but also promises to be a warm and hopeful moment in the concert.
