COD, What Happened To Us?

Call of Duty has changed. We've changed. Everything is so streamlined and fast paced and yet it's never felt more sterile and formulaic. Black Ops 6 is just the latest in a long line of Call of Duty titles that are continuing this behavior, watering down the gameplay in favor of more even matchmaking. Why do we suck fun out of what we like in pursuit of curbing aspects we don't? What makes us constantly strive to control even the thinks in which we enjoyed the chaos?
