This is a Moodle tutorial for beginners to help you set up your first, no-frills Moodle online course. In the video I go through the steps to set up a minimally simple online course in Moodle or to be more specific in the Aalto specific installation of Moodle called OpenLearning. Still, most of the information is Moodle generic and not tied to the Aalto implementation. Mainly policy related questions related to how you initially create a course and how students access the course will most likely differ from your implementation environment. The course was originally developed on WordPress/Lifter LMS and then ported to Moodle. The initial heavy lifting from WordPress to Moodle was done by my then colleague Tommi Byman. In the video I'm not discussing course content design, only going through how to technically implement the course assuming that you have the course material available. The original course on WordPress was taken by more than 1000 Aalto students and the Moodle version has already (December 2024) been completed by more than 100 students without any technical issues or complaints. 00:00 Intro 03:01 Starting with an empty project 03:53 Adding basic course content 08:00 Adding a quiz 09:11 Using and setting up Vimeo videos 16:47 Adding Vimeo video to the course 20:01 Editing a quiz 33:55 Setting up the course layout 45:20 Course completion settings 48:18 Course editing gotchas 50:54 Thanks
