Day 5 - What's the CRAIC on HOOF CRACKS? 🙊 (don't carve them out!)

Day 5 - of our personal challenge to go live on the Phoenix group every day to talk about hoof care nuggets of gold ⚱️ Yet again on last night's show we covered quite a few topics: how the Phoenix Warriors are helping us to change the world how we must keep a focus on our principles otherwise it's easy to go off track and start meddling how vets schools in the UK only want shod hooves for their students (not barefoot ones!) Garry told us a story of how he was told to chop off a toe by a vet who marked up the hoof with a sharpie - from the top 😳 - until Garry picked up the hoof and said "where exactly do you want me to chop it off to without invading the white line and sole?". Hmmmm 🤔 An eye opening story! We also got onto the subject of things we DON'T LIKE at all: flexion tests hoof testers ... and we tell you exactly why we don't like them! Then a Phoenix group member asked us about hoof cracks, so I brought up on the screen a few examples to illustrate full thickness hoof cracks, what can make them worse and how to fix them. But that wasn't all - phew! - as if that wasn't enough we also chatted about P3 SINKING in the capsule - is that a real thing or an optical illusion? I illustrate it with a time lapse video and x-rays. I think the overriding theme of this live was - don't believe everything you see - critically assess absolutely everything! Enjoy!
