Finding a GOOD Feminist Fairytale Retelling | How to Be Eaten by Maria Adelmann Review + Discussion

Wherein Michaela and Gretchen review this unique take on a feminist fairytale retelling. Rather than giving the women agency and removing the teeth and claws from the men, or turning around and letting the women be violent towards the men who were violent toward them first, these women are deeply flawed and traumatized and just trying to get by. The book holds a mirror up to you the reader and asks you to interrogate the ways that you have perpetuated trauma by gossiping online or requiring women to speak out about what happened to them. Definitely worth a read in our opinion, even if there were parts of this one that we found flawed overall. 00:00:00 Intro 00:01:38 Plot Summary 00:04:11 Spoiler Free Review 00:15:19 Spoiler Full Discussion 01:17:24 Outro If you want to help support us: If you haven't yet tried Libro.fm, an audiobook app built to support your local bookstore instead of lining Jeff Bezo's pocket, and want to give Michaela a bit of a kickback, feel free to use her affiliate link!
