Bagleys, in King's Cross, London, was one of the capital's most famous dance venues throughout the 1990s, with multiple rooms making it a major destination for the underground. The 12 November 1999 event featured the Oldskool Arena, celebrating the DJs and sounds that had helped shape British rave culture. Nicky was 14 when he began DJing and played with long-time collaborator Clarky. He started at house parties and on Star FM. He left Star and joined Friends FM, run by Mad B. At this time he played under the name DJ Magical E. In 1990, he and partner David Piccioni, bought Black Market Records in Soho. Slammin' Vinyl is a UK-based event promoter that was founded in 1992 by Grant Smith and Terry Ryan, who were both prominent figures in the UK rave scene at the time. The first Slammin' Vinyl event took place in 1993 at the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes, England. Bagley's was a large warehouse music venue, that was located in Kings Cross, London, that was officially opened in 1991. In 2003, it was renamed Canvas. Bagley's had a capacity of 2,500. The summer of 1995 saw Raindance hold an event at the venue, titled "Spirit of Raindance". World Dance hosted legendary nights at the club. Slammin' Vinyl promoted many nights at Bagley's with rooms focused on music genres such as garage and hardcore.
