Memorial Day 2020: 75 years after World War II, their sacrifice continues to be remembered

While every day at American Battle Monuments Commission sites is a day of remembrance, Memorial Day remains a special moment when we pause, reflect and join together to ensure that our fallen U.S. service members and their allied partners are never forgotten. Not since WWII has ABMC had to close its sites on Memorial Day. In keeping with our promise that time shall not dim the glory of their deeds, ABMC and our U.S. European Command and host nation partners, were committed to continue our traditions in whatever form they must take. As ABMC Secretary William M. Matz remarked, “we might be sheltered alone, but together, we honor them for their ultimate sacrifice on behalf of us all.” #AloneTogetherWeHonor #MemorialDay
