One Life to Live 11/01/1991

Jessica finds Blair’s door open and her music box playing. When she wanders in and closes the music box, she sees the bedroom door slam. Jessica screams and runs back to Luna’s apartment, thinking she’s seen a ghost. LeeAnn and Luna try to calm her down, but that doesn’t seem to be Luna’s forte. At Megan’s place, Jane tries to stay calm, but she keeps thinking about how badly Doug beat her after the officer showed up at their house. Megan asks what Max is doing back in town, but he says he can’t tell her. Nearby, Doug hears Megan tell Max she’s hiding a battered wife from her husband. Max admits he came to the party looking for LeeAnn. Megan gives him a quarter and suggests giving her a call. Cassie continues to make a scene as she fakes a nervous breakdown. The act has the desired effect, as Asa, Renee, and Clint are concerned. LeeAnn calls Renee to tell her about Jessica’s ghost encounter. She offers to watch her and bring her home, and Renee thanks her, since Viki won’t be home until very late. Renee informs Clint, who appreciates LeeAnn’s help, especially since he has to stay at the party to meet a photographer from Pine Valley that Viki set up an appointment with. Max overhears the conversation and heads over to Llanfair. At Llanfair, Jessica has calmed down a bit after LeeAnn told some funny stories about her childhood. LeeAnn falls asleep on the couch downstairs. Jessica tries to light a Jack-o-Lantern but gets distracted and ends up lighting the curtains on fire. The dog gets spooked and hides under the bed. Jessica crawls under the bed to try and get her while shouting for LeeAnn. LeeAnn wakes with a start and makes her way upstairs through the smoke. She promises to find the dog and sends Jessica next door to call the fire department. Back at the party, Asa impresses everyone with his sharpshooting skills in the duck-shooting carnival game, but Max matches him shot-for-shot. Doug, still lurking near Megan, finally hears confirmation that Jane is the woman she’s harboring. Cassie appears to have a complete mental break in front of everyone. Dorian worries mental health issues are in her blood and that Cassie is losing touch with reality, just like her sister Melinda. Doug shows up at Megan’s place and tries to break in the door to get at Jane. Inside, Jane starts having a panic attack. Doug tries picking the lock, he tries crying, he tries screaming, but Jane doesn’t answer. Max shows up at Llanfair to find Jessica in the foyer with the dog and LeeAnn not responding to his or Jessica’s calls. He repeats LeeAnn’s instruction to go next door and call the fire department, then he tries to make his way through the smoke to get LeeAnn, who by now is unconscious on Jessica’s bedroom floor.
