Blood Pact: 61 Deaths. One Very Long Night | Apex Legends Halloween Wildcard

Blood Pact was my first-ever night in Apex Legends Wildcard. I’d heard the mode made 4K damage games and 20 bombs considerably easier to come by, which seemed worth investigating given that my entire collection at the time consisted of one 2K badge, no 4Ks and no 20 bombs. So for the Halloween Blood Pact event, I gave each of my fourteen unlocked Legends exactly one game to see what Wildcard could do for a player of distinctly average calibre. What followed became a nearly 57-minute Apex film about one very long night of repeated deaths, relentless respawns, random teammates and brief moments where I looked like I knew what I was doing. Somewhere along the way, the original experiment became something stranger: a story about survival in a mode where being dead is not always as conclusive as it sounds.
