Ever noticed those wild, vertical rock "ribs" sticking out of the hillside on Rocky Peak? While many hikers and riders mistake them for active fault lines, they are actually something far more mind-blowing: a 75-million-year-old deep ocean floor tipped on its side. In this video, we hop on the mountain bike to explore the geology and history of Simi Valley's Rocky Peak trail. We’ll break down how ancient underwater massive tectonic forces, and differential erosion created these crazy-looking tilted strata—and why you are literally riding across an ancient ocean bed.
