1/12 elf Honda NSR500 1989 (with Detail-Up Parts) | Hasegawa Plastic Model Full Build
This racer competed in the 500cc class of the World Grand Prix (WGP). Honda supplied an NSR500 (NV0H) to the satellite team ROC ELF, which was raced by Dominique Sarron.
Until the previous year, the team had competed with the innovative ELF series motorcycles ridden by Ron Haslam. From 1989, however, they switched to the conventional NSR500.
In 1989, several teams were running the NSR500, forming something of a united front against Yamaha.
Rothmans Honda had HRC riders Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan, Kanemoto Honda had Eddie Lawson, HB Honda featured Niall Mackenzie with Team Gallina, and ELF Honda was represented by Dominique Sarron.
And of course, there was also Gun Koma from Team Shimazaki, although his NSR500 appears to be slightly different from the NV0H.
In this video, I build the Hasegawa 1/12 ELF Honda NSR500 1989. To achieve a more realistic finish, I used Hobby Design detail-up parts and Top Studio's clutch kit.
The video covers the entire build process, from unboxing and preparing the parts, through installing the detail-up parts and painting, to displaying the parts in a panel-style layout, final assembly, and completion.
For painting, I mainly used Mr. Hobby Aqueous acrylic paints. For the clear coat, I used Finisher's GP1 urethane clear.
For some parts, I also used Tamiya enamel paints, such as Chrome Silver and Clear Blue, to enhance the texture and appearance of the details.
Hobby Design does not offer detail-up parts specifically for the ELF Honda, so I used their parts designed for the Rothmans Honda NSR500.
I also used Top Studio's clutch kit to add even more realism to the model.
For the spark plug wires and other cables and wiring, I used products from Detail Master, Studio27, and Model Factory Hiro, as the kit parts were either the wrong color or too thick compared with the real components.
I hope you enjoy the video and watch it all the way to the end!
