I woke up at 5AM and decided to go on a photo walk around my own neighborhood with my Canon 24-105mm F4.
Honestly, I almost didn't go. It was still dark when I left our street, and walking around the neighborhood that early felt a little scary at first. But the more I walked, the brighter it became — and slowly, I started seeing more things to photograph.
I didn't have a particular plan for this walk. I just kept walking and shooting whatever caught my attention — tiny birds in the grass, street details, people cycling and jogging, vendors, stray cats and dogs, and eventually the local market.
I'm still trying to get more comfortable with street photography, especially photographing strangers. So for me, this was as much about practicing and building the habit of going out as it was about getting great photographs.
I took a LOT of photos on this walk. Some worked, some didn't, but I'm sharing some of my favorites from the morning.
My DJI Nano unfortunately died at around 19 minutes, so I wasn't able to film the very end of the walk. But I made it home, had breakfast, and went through the photos I took.
I know I could have made better photographs, but I'm happy with what I got. More importantly, I feel a little braver about going out and shooting.
Next time, I'll probably leave a little later — maybe around 5:40AM — and challenge myself a little more.
