This World Mental Health Day, let’s ask the questions we need to ask—but often hesitate to. When should we seek professional help? When does having fun turn into addiction? What can schools do to improve mental health? How can workplaces become emotionally safer? What are the warning signs of suicidal behaviour? Is medication enough, and how important is family in recovery? Mental health is more than a diagnosis. It is about understanding our experiences, recognising warning signs, challenging stigma, and knowing when to seek help. In the inaugural episode of Psych Dialogues, host Archana Shaktawat sits down with Dr. R. K. Sharma, Psychiatrist, Child Counsellor and Therapist, to explore these important questions and understand mental health beyond labels and assumptions. In this conversation, we explore: Recognising when it is time to seek professional help Medication, therapy and what recovery really looks like The addiction cycle and the importance of timely intervention Suicidal thoughts, warning signs and seeking help The role of families in mental health treatment Mental health in schools and emotionally safe workplaces Stigma, affordability and access to mental health care Whether you are struggling silently, concerned about a loved one, or simply want to understand mental health better, this conversation offers insights to help you make informed decisions and start meaningful conversations. This World Mental Health Day, let’s move beyond the diagnosis and understand the person behind the struggle. About Dr. R. K. Sharma Dr. R. K. Sharma is a psychiatrist, child counsellor and therapist.
