Hip Hop, Dancehall & Global Rhythms at Makilala | P Baby | MASA Radio 004

Get on the list and hear about the next set first: https://masaradio.com P Baby takes over the decks at Makilala, a Filipino restaurant in Toronto, for a set that moves through hip hop, dancehall, urban and global rhythms. P Baby is a Toronto-based DJ known for bringing her sets into unexpected spaces, from co-hosted coffee-and-music events to a set at the Four Seasons Yorkville. For this session, MASA Radio brought her into Makilala instead of a club or a stage. Makilala calls itself a family and friends Filipino eatery: walk-ins welcome, reservations open. It's the kind of place that already hosts karaoke nights and community events. For this session, MASA Radio set up right in the middle of it: no stage, no separate booth, just the DJ, the diners, and the kitchen running behind her the whole time. That's the idea behind every MASA Radio session. We don't build a stage inside a Filipino business & culture. We bring a DJ into the room exactly as it already runs, and let the regulars be the crowd.
