'Salem's Lot (2024) - Book Vs. Movie

In this episode of Books on Film, I break down the 2024 adaptation of Stephen King’s ’Salem’s Lot — what changed, what stayed the same, and why this story is so difficult to bring to the screen. King’s novel is a slow, atmospheric descent into the death of a town… but the movie takes a very different approach. I compare the book’s themes, characters, pacing, and iconic moments with the film’s choices, and explore how those changes affect the story’s tone. Does the movie capture the soul of King’s novel? Or does it lose what makes ’Salem’s Lot one of his most haunting works? Thanks For Watching! Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:42 From Page To Screen 02:00 What Changed? 18:06 Which Was Better? 19:55 Outro
