IMC on Migration to hold media briefing on asylum seekers

The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on Migration will hold a media briefing on the landmark 7 July 2026 Constitutional Court judgment on asylum seekers in Pretoria. The judgment related to the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town and Another vs Minister of Home Affairs and Others concerning access to the refugee system. It found that foreign nationals cannot be blocked or disqualified from accessing the asylum system solely because of an adverse or irregular immigration status.
