Leveraging Social Innovation Platforms for Inclusive and Sustainable Local Development

This webinar, jointly organized by ADB and UNDP, brought together cities implementing the Social Innovation Platforms (SIP) to share their experiences applying the SIP approach within their local contexts. Through local stories and practical insights, the session highlighted how SIP is reshaping local development practices—moving beyond traditional project-based solutions toward more integrated, community-driven, and systems‑oriented ways of working. Participants heard how cities are experimenting with new methods to address complex local challenges and how collaborative innovation processes are strengthening community participation, deepening local learning, and enabling more inclusive and effective decision‑making. Designed as an open space for peer exchange, the webinar invited both SIP cities and interested government partners to learn from one another. The discussion aimed to spark reflection on current approaches to local development and inspire cities to explore how social innovation and systems thinking can support more inclusive, sustainable, and future‑ready local solutions.
