The High Cross Ft. James Harris - Typhoon (Official Video)

Words by James Harris - Music by Steve Wright/Sebastian Muravchik All vocals, written, sung & recorded by James Harris © 2026   / themoonsofjupitermusic   Video filmed and edited by James Harris © 2026 When Steve sent me the music for "This Is Not Silence", he also sent me this track. I wrote and recorded this vocal the day after "This Is Not Silence" and felt this was another strong song. I asked that they send me more music and felt that we could easily put together a good album. However the only music they sent me after this was just instrumentals (that can be found on their EP) that clearly didn't have any room for vocals. With "Typhoon" I felt sure that Steve and Sebs would love this vocal too. However... I really don't know if Sebs actually ever heard it and Steve wasn't keen on what I'd added. Had a set idea in his head for how the track should be and didn't wish to deviate from that. He did like some of the vocal though and asked me to cut it right down. So in the end we had a version of "Typhoon" that had a few of my vocal lines towards the end of the track, but that was it. That version of the track was going to be on The High Cross debut EP but my vocal was dropped along with my contribution to "This Is Not Silence". I've put the full vocal version on here as I think it's the best. I can only assume that Steve and Sebs didn't like me taking so much of a creative lead in what, up until that time, had been their project. (I never asked for more than a fair say and never tried to tell them what to do with the music. I also contributed with ideas for cover artwork and promotion too.) When working on a collaborative venture like this project all involved should put their egos aside and simply do what is best for the music. Follow the muse to where it takes you and simply do what is best for the songs. I have honestly done my best to do that. See what you think of this version and how it compares to their soulless instrumental version. The sad thing is, I think this could have been a great project and would have been good for all of us and for our other projects too. The sound quality isn't perfect here as I was only sent the MP3 of the music. And in spite of numerous requests and promises from Steve that I would be sent the stems (WAVs), these never materialised. So this is just a "Demo" version, but I think still far better than what has been released on their bandcamp. I always liked this track and told Steve it sounds like "Top Gun meets Donna Summer". Could have have been another winner! The 2 songs I contributed to and the 2 instrumentals, I think would have made a great debut EP. A strong introduction. But sadly, the debut High Cross EP consisting of 4 instruments is simply nothing special and forgettable. The best move now would be to take that version of the EP down and release it as it should have been. Although I doubt their egos will allow it. Would rather own 100% of an uninspired directionless collection of instrumentals, rather than a share of something special!
