It is a formidable Raga to execute, due to its intricate scale rules and dual note usage. Carnatic maestros highly revere Dikshitar's treatment in the composition Cheta Sri Balakrishnam because it masterfully traces the complete contour, microtones (gamakas), and the emotional depth of the Raga The Mind's Instruction (Pallavi): The song begins with an intimate internal command, "Chetah Sri Balakrishnam Bhajare Re". The composer instructs his own mind: “Oh Mind... Worship... Lord Sri Balakrishna... whose lotus like... feet... will grant... the boons one can think of. The Narrative Paradox (Anupallavi): Here, Dikshitar contrasts the infinite cosmic power of God with his innocent child form. He describes Krishna as having a body dark like fresh rain clouds (Nutana Nirada) and a smooth, conch-like neck (Kambu Kandharam) The Visual Masterpiece (Charanam): The longest segment is a highly visual, anatomical praise of Balakrishna's features. Dikshitar details the aroma of fresh butter on his breath (Navanita Gandhavaha Vadanam), the eyes shaped like lotus petals, and the nose sharp like a fresh champaka flower.
