Welcome back to MCF! In this summer garden update, we’re about nine weeks into our first planting and the garden is really starting to come alive. Our corn is now over 6 feet tall, the rattlesnake pole beans are climbing, Sugar Baby watermelons and cantaloupes are forming, and our San Marzano tomatoes are finally taking off. In this video we cover: 🌽 Successive corn plantings 🫘 Rattlesnake pole beans and Blue Lake bush beans 🍉 Sugar Baby watermelons and cantaloupes 🍅 San Marzano, Roma, and German Johnson tomatoes 🥒 Cucumbers and vertical zucchini growing 🌻 Giant sunflowers and companion flowers 🐝 Pollinator-friendly plants including borage, verbena, alyssum, nasturtiums, dill, and calendula 🦌 The deer damage we’ve experienced—and what they chose to eat (and leave alone!) 🌶️ Peppers, carrots, garlic harvest, and more Gardening is always a mix of victories and challenges. While the deer helped themselves to our sunflowers and strawberries, we’re excited to see how the rest of the garden is progressing as we head into the heart of summer. 👍 If you enjoyed the video, please like, subscribe, and leave a comment letting us know how your garden is doing this season! Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you in the next garden update! #companionplanting #raisedbedgarden #veggiegarden #organicgardening
