European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made her state of the union address in Strasbourg, France, on Wednesday to a room of EU politicians and other dignitaries, including Prime Minister Mark Carney. In her speech, von der Leyen expressed a desire for Canada to become an 'associate member' of the European Union, but what that might mean remains to be seen. Former EU ambassador Stéphane Dion offers his take to Power & Politics, and the Power Panel also weighs in.
