A fire broke out following an explosion at the CHT (Hydro Sulphur Treatment) Unit-3 inside the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) premises near Jokatte, Mangaluru, on September 30. According to officials, the incident occurred after a crack developed in a cold separator operating under high pressure in the Coker Hydrotreater unit. MRPL’s emergency response and fire teams brought the fire under control and isolated the affected unit. One employee, identified as Rajesh Baptist, sustained around 35% burn injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment. He is currently in the ICU and is reported to be out of danger. Six others from a nearby office sustained minor injuries and received outpatient treatment. Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, the DCP and other officials visited the site and reviewed the situation. Authorities have stated that the situation is under control and there is no need for panic. MRPL officials said the situation continues to be closely monitored and further verified updates will be shared when available. #mrpl #mangaluru #mangalore #MRPLFire #MRPLExplosion #Jokatte #surathkal #karnatakanews #coastalkarnataka #breakingnewsindia #IndustrialIncident #mangalorenews #udayavani "Get Your Daily Dose of News, Entertainment, and Infotainment - All in One Place!"
