A year ago, Dr. J.J. Peterson launched Badass Softie while asking himself some uncomfortable questions: What if nobody listens? What if this goes nowhere? What if people think it's stupid? Who am I to do this?
A year later, he hasn't discovered how to stop being afraid. He's discovered something more useful: courage isn't something you either have or you don't. It's something you practice.
Every time you move toward something that matters while fear is still present, you create new evidence about yourself. I did that. I survived that. Maybe I can do the next thing.
Looking back across a year of conversations about leadership, ambition, vulnerability, visibility, work, and success, J.J. explores the different forms courage can take—and why sometimes the people around us are what make the brave thing possible.
What This Explores
✔️ Why brave people aren't necessarily less afraid
✔️ When changing the plan can be more courageous than sticking with it
✔️ Why visibility requires vulnerability
✔️ How safety and support can make people braver
✔️ Why courage is something we practice, not something we wait to feel

Become the Obvious Choice
After a year of conversations, J.J. is taking one of the ideas he believes most deeply and building a room around it: the people around us can change the way we think—and what we're willing to do next.
On October 9th in Nashville, J.J. is joining Julie Firth and Sonya Whittam for Become the Obvious Choice, a one-day intensive for business owners and leaders ready to put their biggest growth decisions in the right room.
Bring the challenge you've been thinking circles around, the decision you can't quite make, or the idea you need someone to challenge. You'll work alongside other experienced leaders to get outside perspective, challenge assumptions, and leave with greater clarity about what to do next.
Sometimes the next brave thing isn't figuring it out alone.
Sometimes it's putting yourself in the right room.
