De Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine samen met solist Jeffrey Kant (1992-) in het wervelende Harvest: Concerto for Trombone van de Amerikaanse componist John Mackey. Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine o.l.v. gastdirigent Pierre Volders Op 15 juni 2024 vond in de Grote Zaal van De Doelen in Rotterdam de uitvoering plaats van dit schitterende tromboneconcert. Dit concert was onderdeel van het Slide Factory-festival, een heus muziekspektakel waarbij de trombone volledig in de spotlight staat. Jeffrey Kant is een befaamde Nederlandse trombonist die eerste trombone speelt bij het WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln. Hij noemde dit optreden zelf: "Een van de hoogtepunten in mijn carrière." En na het beluisteren van deze uitvoering zul je dat wel begrijpen. Dit werk van John Mackey is een driedelig, ononderbroken tromboneconcert geïnspireerd op het Griekse mythologische verhaal van Dionysos, de god van de wijnoogst en rituele extase. The Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy is conducted by guest conductor Pierre Volders. This spectacular trombone concerto was recorded live on June 15, 2024, in the Main Hall (Grote Zaal) of De Doelen in Rotterdam. The concert was part of the Slide Factory festival, a premier musical event dedicated entirely to putting the trombone in the spotlight. Jeffrey Kant is a renowned Dutch trombonist who serves as principal trombone with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln. He personally described this performance as "one of the highlights of my career"—and once you hear this rendition, you will certainly understand why. John Mackey's work is a three-movement, continuous trombone concerto inspired by the Greek mythological tale of Dionysus, the god of the vine, harvest, and ritual ecstasy.
