It's 1880. You're twenty-nine, an outlaw in Texas, and your beans are cold. Your share of the robbery was nineteen dollars. The reward on your head is two hundred. And this morning, your horse has thrown a shoe, which means walking straight into a town that has a sheriff.
Spend one full day on the wrong side of the law: a wanted poster with a mustache you've never had, a nod from the sheriff himself, a blacksmith who swears he'd know that outlaw anywhere, and a stable boy who figures it out in about four seconds. Then a campfire, seventeen dollars and fifty cents, and the one person who would know your face.
This is the same town and the same day as our Texas Sheriff, 1880 story, seen from the other side of the street.
