You opened the past paper, looked at the answer, and closed it — and in the exam the same question felt brand new? Today's method: solve it yourself first (timed), then check the reasoning, name the TYPE of your mistake, and finish with one twin question. The exact prompt is below.
The four steps
1. Solve it alone, timed — one question, book closed, answer key face down, fifteen minutes. Mark the stuck point with a star.
2. Check the reasoning, not just the answer — with this exact prompt: "Here is my solution. Do not solve it again. Tell me the FIRST step where my reasoning goes wrong, and give me a hint for that step only."
3. Name the type of your mistake — concept (cure: the book), formula choice (check what is given and what is asked), units (write the unit beside every number), or arithmetic (one slow re-check line).
4. Redo it, then one twin question — same idea, different numbers. The twin is the proof it is the method, not memory.
Worked example
A car starts at 10 m/s and accelerates at 2 m/s²: after 4 s, v = u + at = 10 + 2 × 4 = 18 m/s. Slowing at 2 m/s², it is 10 − 8 = 2 m/s — speeding up, plus; slowing down, minus.
Your task this week
Take one past-paper question from your hardest chapter. Solve it alone and timed, check the reasoning with the exact prompt, name the mistake type, and finish with the twin.
Safety rules
1. AI can be confident and wrong — if it marks your right step wrong, your book and your teacher are the final court.
2. Never put personal information into any AI tool — your solution is enough; your name and roll number are never needed.
3. If you would not show your teacher HOW you practised, you practised the wrong way.
Note: Under ChatGPT's own rules, an account is for users aged 13 or older, and users under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission — younger students should learn together with a teacher or parent.
This video introduces no new tool, feature, limit or price. It reuses only uses already taught and verified in this series: ChatGPT question-and-check behaviour (Day 4 deep-dive; Study Mode, Day 11), NotebookLM quizzes from the student's own uploaded material (Day 5), and the golden rule and three safety rules from Day 1. No board, exam date, paper pattern or marking scheme is claimed — the student uses their own board's past papers.
