This Japanese listening and reading practice focuses on the Japanese you actually hear and use at restaurants. The lesson follows a complete restaurant visit, from entering the restaurant and telling the staff how many people are in your party to ordering food, asking questions, paying, and leaving.
You’ll hear practical expressions for reservations, waiting for a table, choosing a seat, reading the menu, asking for recommendations, ordering drinks and food, calling a staff member, asking someone to repeat or speak more slowly, and handling set meals and extra orders.
The lesson also covers asking about taste and ingredients, allergies and foods you cannot eat, incorrect or delayed orders, sharing plates, water refills, dessert, takeout, the bill, card and electronic payments, receipts, and the Japanese expression “ごちそうさまでした” used after a meal.
