Title:
Karachi's Golden Cinema Era | When Karachi Was the City of Cinemas | Untold Memories
Description:
Once upon a time, Karachi was truly the city of cinemas.
This documentary takes you back to the golden era of Karachi cinema, when going to the movies was one of the biggest forms of entertainment. From street film screenings at weddings to the grand single-screen cinemas of Saddar, Lyari, Bhimpura, Kemari, Martin Road, Lalukhet, Malir and Landhi, this video brings back unforgettable memories of old Karachi.
There was a time when films were called Bioscope and cinema houses were known as Talkies. Movies were even screened on white screens in streets during weddings and special celebrations. People gathered late at night, watched films together and created memories that have survived for decades.
In this video, we remember the legendary cinemas of Karachi including:
Bambino Cinema
Scala Cinema
Paradise Cinema
Star Cinema
Regal Cinema

and many more forgotten cinemas of Karachi.
We also explore the memories of old cinema tickets, hand-painted movie posters, long queues outside ticket windows, Sunday movie plans with friends, Punjabi and Urdu films, Pakistani film stars and the magical atmosphere of Karachi's cinema streets.
Many of these historic cinema houses have disappeared over time. Some were demolished, some were replaced by markets and shopping centres, while others became part of Karachi's changing landscape.
But can a cinema really disappear when thousands of people still remember the first film they watched there?
This is not just the story of old cinema buildings.
This is the story of old Karachi.
A Karachi full of cinema lights, movie posters, crowded streets, friendships and unforgettable memories.
If you remember any old cinema of Karachi, tell us in the comments:
