What do you do when the person you married doesn’t celebrate your growth—but seems threatened by it?
I know what it feels like when every accomplishment becomes a competition, every compliment creates tension, and sharing your dreams no longer feels emotionally safe. For years, I made myself smaller to protect my husband’s insecurity and keep the peace in our home. But peace that requires you to disappear is not really peace.
In this video, I’m sharing what I learned about:
Recognizing jealousy and competition within a marriage
Stopping the habit of managing someone else’s insecurity
Pursuing your goals without waiting for your partner’s validation
Building a safe and supportive community around you
Recognizing when jealousy has crossed into control, isolation, or sabotage
You cannot heal another person’s insecurity by abandoning parts of yourself. God gave you gifts, intelligence, dreams, and purpose—and you should not have to apologize for growing into the woman He created you to be.
Have you ever felt pressured to minimize your success to keep someone else comfortable? If you feel safe sharing, let’s talk about it in the comments.
If jealousy in your relationship includes threats, financial control, isolation, monitoring, retaliation, or interference with your employment, please take those behaviors seriously and reach out to a trusted professional or domestic-violence resource for support.
