The big news was finding our very first eggs from our 58 chickens—a huge milestone. Of course, it wouldn't be a normal day without some chaos; I leased a new field thinking it was grass, only to find a harvestable crop of spinach. I decided to cultivate it anyway to make room for the cows we're planning to get. Between managing silage, sending the tractor in for a service, and a few "oops" moments with the spreader, the work never stops. By October, our chicken count jumped to 118!
